Truth matters. Community matters. Your support makes both possible. LAist is one of the few places where news remains independent and free from political and corporate influence. Stand up for truth and for LAist. Make your year-end tax-deductible gift now.

Last year, founder Danielle Chang brought her wildly popular Asian street food festival Luckyrice to L.A. for the first time. The festival is returning this year, but instead of being hosted at H.D. Buttercup, it'll be at the Bookbindery in Culver City.

Luckyrice will go down on Saturday, July 27 from 7-10 p.m. and will be guest hosted by Sang Yoon, the chef/owner of Luskhon and one of our favorite burger joints, The Father's Office. Also slated to cook are Jet Tila of the Charleston, Bryant Ng from Spice Table, Kris Yenbamroong of Night + Market, Mohan Ismail from RockSugar, Jenee Park of Parks BBQ. Addional booths will be presented by Ayara Thai, Komodo Food, BEP Vietnamese Kitchen, R23, Katsuya, Black Hogg, Zengo, Badmaash, Hopscotch (Oakland), Phorage, Barbara Batiste (B Sweet), Far Bar, Fluff Ice, Goldie’s, Starry Kitchen and Hamasaku.

As with the first event, there'll be plenty of cocktails on hand hosted by some of the city's greatest establishments like Hinoki and the Bird, SoHo House, No Vacancy, La Descarga, Sadie’s Kitchen and Lounge, and Connie & Ted’s.

Here's hoping for an appearance by James Murphy like there was last year.

Tickets for the event are $88 and can be purchased here.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive before year-end will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
