Baja's Rockstar Javier Plascencia Cooks at Playa Tonight
A few weeks ago we mentioned the pop-up series that John Sedlar is hosting at his Beverly Boulevard restaurant, Playa. Several championed chefs from the Baja region of Mexico have come through the Sedlar's doors as of late, in a sort of Latino version of Test Kitchen, which is also returning to L.A. shortly.
Tonight the Baja series at Playa ends with lauded Baja guest chef Javier Plascencia, who has been credited with spearheading the revival of Tijuana cuisine, and has gotten all sorts of props from the likes of the New Yorker to the New York Times for his restaurant Mision 19.
Plascencia will be cooking items like yellow fin tuna with beef bone marrow and onion foam and Hass avocado soup with smoked pork and black radish. Dishes will range from $5-$18, and although the chef will only be present tonight and tomorrow evening, his menu items will be executed by the Playa staff throughout the week.
