25 Places In Los Angeles For Stoners To Satisfy The Munchies
To all our fellow stoners: 4/20 has finally arrived! It's the day where we nationally celebrate the stickiest of the icky, and in turn, get some hardcore munchies. Luckily in Los Angeles, we have plenty of spots to quell our cravings—from loaded fries to deep-fried desserts and serious breakfast sandwiches. Here are our favorites in town.

Red velvet WOW-nut with cream cheese frosting and ice cream (Photo via Instagram)
WOW-Nuts @ DK's Donuts
The folks behind DK's Donuts don't mess around when it comes to their donuts. We've seen them make their own version of Cronuts, sprinkle bacon bits on their donuts, and even make a Pizza Donut item. So, their bakery is a one-stop shop for your munchies. One of their signature items are their WOW-nuts, a waffle-and-donut hybrid, that can be topped with glazes and ice cream. They have some great combinations like their Red Velvet Lust made with a red velvet waffle and cream cheese frosting, and their Team Purple Yam, which is an ube waffle with Hawaiian coconut glaze and toasted coconut. And pro-tip: they're open 24/7.
DK's Donuts is located at 1614 Santa Monica Blvd., Santa Monica, (310) 829-2512

Porchetta Chili Cheese Fries at Stir Market (Photo courtesy of Stir Market)
Porchetta Chili Cheese Fries @ Stir Market
Stir Market recently launched their happy hour menu, dubbed "Restocking Hour," where you can get their delectable Porchetta Chili Cheese Fries. The Belgian fries come with chunks of porchetta (mouthwatering and fatty pork roast), beans, melted cheese, and crispy pork skin. The crispy skin, which are like little pork rinds, really speaks to the stoner in all of us.
Stir Market is located at 7475 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, (323) 879-8283. Their happy hour is from Mondays through Fridays from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Plan Check's KBBQ Burger (Photo courtesy of Plan Check)
KBBQ Burger @ Plan Check
Plan Check is one of those joints where everything screams stoner food. One dish in particular—the KBBQ Burger—comes to mind. Executive Chef Ernesto Uchimura's burger was inspired by Carl’s Jr.’s Bacon Western Cheeseburger, so we know he's already on the right track and it has a Korean twist. The burger patty topped with a gouchujang BBQ sauce, grilled pork belly, fried onions, and their kimcheese (gruyere cheese mixed with kimchi seasoning). This KBBQ Burger is only served at their Westlake location.
Plan Check is located on 1111 Wilshire Boulevard, Westlake, (213) 403-1616

Nickel Diner's version of Ding Dongs (Photo via Facebook)
Desserts @ Nickel Diner
Nickel Diner doesn't mess around when it comes to bringing back our favorite childhood desserts in a big way. They've got upscale stoner classics like homemade Ding Dongs and Pop Tarts. They're also on point with their sweet and salty desserts: they have bacon-covered maple donuts and chocolate peanut butter and potato chips cake. These guys aren't open on Mondays, but make sure to visit them any other day of the week you happen to get blazed.
Nickel Diner is located at 524 S Main St., DTLA, (213) 623-8301

Brutus Salad at Komodo (Photo by Phi Vo, courtesy of Komodo)
Brutus Salad @ Komodo
The fact that Komodo has a section on their menu that's titled "Munchies," so you know you're in good hands. These guys were one of the OGs in the L.A. food truck scene with their Asian-meets-Mexican flavors, and now they have brick-and-mortar locations in Venice and Pico-Robertson, where you can get their Brutus Salad. Don't let the name fool you: it's really not salad, but rather the complete opposite of it. It's crispy tater tots topped with a nice serving of steak, bacon, cheddar, sour cream, pico de gallo, jalapeno aioli and cilantro. Brutus Salad is not for the faint of heart.
Komodo is located at 8809 West Pico Blvd., Pico-Robertson, (310) 246-5153, and 235 Main St., Venice, (310) 255-6742
Deep-Fried Desserts @ Beer Belly
Koreatown's Beer Belly gastropub is your ultimate stop for delicious greasy bar food. They've got everything from bacon fat fries to chicken skin cracklins and loaded mac 'n' cheese. But something that really stands out in the munchies department is their excellent roster of deep-fried desserts fit for a Midwestern fair. We're talking about deep-fried Oreos, Pop Tarts, oatmeal cream pies, Twinkies and snickerdoodles. And there's more than just the crispy-covered desserts—the items are accompanied by different sweet delights like Nutella and ice cream, s'mores and whipped cream.
Beer Belly is located at 532 S Western Ave., Koreatown, (213) 387-2337

Churro Borough's churro ice cream sandwich is just so beautiful! (Photo by Jean Trinh/LAist)
Churro Ice Cream Sandwiches @ Churro Borough
It's hard to believe that with all the mash-ups that have been tried, Los Angeles only got its first place dedicated to churros and ice cream last week. The churro ice cream sandwich is artisanal ice cream sandwiched between two crispy and flakey churro discs covered in sugar granules and cinnamon. It's just heavenly. This shop isn't open on Mondays, but you can get their sugary treats any other day of the week.
Churro Borough is located at 1726 N. Vermont Ave., Los Feliz

Breakfast Sandwiches @ Egg Slut
Over at Grand Central Market, people wait in long lines to get a taste of Egg Slut's immaculate breakfast sandwiches. You can get their gourmet versions of bacon, egg and cheese, or sausage, egg and cheese sandwiched between pillowy soft brioche buns. One of their breakfast stars, though, is the Fairfax, which comes with scrambled eggs and chives, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and Sriracha mayo. This sure beats McDonald's any day.
Egg Slut is located at Grand Central Market, 317 S Broadway St., DTLA

Funnel cake ice cream sandwiches at Ice Que (Photo via Instagram)
Funnel Cake Ice Cream Sandwiches @ Ice Que
Ice Que has blended together our dream carnie dessert: the FuNELLE cake. The funnel cake ice cream sandwich is made fresh to order at this Alhambra ice cream spot. Owner John Park told LAist that he wanted to make something that reminded folks of the funnel cakes topped with whipped cream and berries that we'd get at places like Knott's Berry Farm. And indeed, his version is just that with vanilla marscarpone and strawberries sandwiched between two pieces of crispy fried batter. Ice Que is closed on Sundays and Mondays, but you can visit their shop any other day to get your hands on one of these babies.
Ice Que is located at 401 W. Main St., Alhambra

Momma's Mini Sloppy Joes @ Art's Table
The best part about being an adult is that you can now eat your childhood favorites high. Art's Table in Santa Monica has a gourmet version of this treat in the form of sliders. Their sloppy joes are made with slow-cooked veal, pork and beef; pickles; smoked cheddar; and garlic aoli.
Art's Table is located at 1002 Montana Ave., Santa Monica, (310) 395-2500

Vegan Chili Cheese Fries at Mohawk Bend (Photo courtesy of Mohawk Bend)
Vegan Chili Fries @ Mohawk Bend
Hey, vegans love to celebrate 4/20, too! Over at Mohawk Bend, they've got plenty of herbivore-friendly dishes, including their vegan chili fries. Crispy fries are topped with vegan chili, house-made cashew cheese (or cheddar for the vegetarians), salsa verde, jalapeno, red onion and guacamole. And while you're there, they also have a vegan burger and vegan banh mi for your plant-based grub needs on 4/20.
Mohawk Bend is located at 2141 W. Sunset Blvd., Echo Park, 213-483-2337

In-N-Out's Cheeseburger And Animal-Style Fries (Photo by Jessica Rossi via the Creative Commons on Flickr)
Burger And Animal-Style Fries @ In-N-Out
No munchies food list is complete without a nod to In-N-Out. It's the only fast food joint where we're willing to wait in the drive-thru line for a half-hour or more. Getting a combo with a burger and fries animal-style is the way we'd like to live our lives on 4/20. Crispy fries topped with grilled chopped onions, melted American cheese and spread might be the ultimate California stoner food.
In-N-Out has several locations. Check their website here for more info.

Guisados' tacos (Photo by Jean Trinh/LAist)
Tacos @ Guisados
Tacos are such an institution in Los Angeles that it's hard to choose a favorite. But over at Guisados, their tacos are consistently on point. From their high-quality stewed meats (think cochinita pibil mole polano) to their to-die-for corn tortillas and complex (and spicy!) salsas, they have something for everyone. It's the type of place where you'll end up ordering way too many tacos because you just want to try them all. We won't judge if you just so happen to do that on 4/20. Wash it all down with a cold glass of horchata.
Guisados is located at 2100 East Cesar E Chavez Ave., Boyle Heights, (323) 264-7201; 1261 W Sunset Blvd., Echo Park, (213) 250-7600; and 541 S. Spring St. # 101, downtown L.A., (213) 627-7656

Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams (Photo by Jean Trinh/LAist)
Artisanal Ice Cream @ Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams
Sometimes celebrating 4/20 has its side effects, like having an insatiable craving for sweets. Luckily, Ohio-based Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams recently just moved into Los Feliz to cater to your hunger pangs. The ice creams are full of creative flavors like the delicious Wheatgrass, Pear & Vihno Verde sorbet to Toasted Brioche with Butter and Jam. Everything tastes fresh and extra creamy. When you walk into the store, you're also hit by the sweet smell of waffle cones because those are made in-house.
Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams is located at 1954 Hillhurst Ave., Los Feliz, (323) 928-2668

What's a munchies list without pizza on the list? Village Pizzeria caters to both your Neapolitian (thin crust) and Sicillian (thick crust) needs, and offers pizzas by the whole pie or by the slice. They're just downright good from their traditional pepperoni all the way to their other toppings like housemade sausages and Wisconsin mozzarella. Check out our Best Pizza in Los Angeles list for more pizza joints.
Village Pizzeria is located at 131 N Larchmont Blvd., Larchmont Village, (323) 465-5566
Breakfast Burrito @ Cofax
Cofax, the Dodgers-themed coffee shop helmed by the Golden State dudes, has one of the best breakfast burritos we've ever had. So, if you're going to start your 4/20 right, you might as well go big with a stellar breakfast burrito. We suggest the chorizo version, but they also have a vegetarian option. Their breakfast burritos come with smoky and crispy potatoes, and are packed full of complex flavors. Make sure to use their smoky salsa verde because that sauce is game-changer.
Cofax is located at 440 N Fairfax Ave., Fairfax District, (323) 424-7485

Honey's Kettle Fried Chicken (Photo via Facebook)
Fried Chicken @ Honey's Kettle
Honey's Kettle Fried Chicken goes back to the basics of Southern comfort food. Their hand-dipped fried chicken drumsticks are massive ones that are crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. While you're there, you should also get one or two of their buttery biscuits, which taste even better with warm honey.
Honey's Kettle Fried Chicken is located at 9537 Culver Blvd., Culver City, (310) 202-5453

SoCal Dog at Dog Haus (Photo by Laine Trees via the Creative Commons on Flickr)
Hot Dogs @ Dog Haus
When it comes to hot dogs, Dog Haus does it right. We're not talking about your run-of-the-mill dogs—they offer unique flavor combinations on soft and toasty Hawaiian sweet rolls. For example, there's the Grand Slam, which comes with bacon, fried egg, tater tots, maple syrup and Sriracha, and the Tae Kwon Dog with bulgogi glaze, kimchi fried egg, and chili powder. Plus, you can get on the side an order of tater tots topped with their house-made cheese sauce.

BRR-ito from Ben & Jerry's (Photo via Ben & Jerry's)
BRR-ito @ Ben & Jerry's
Ben & Jerry's knows who their loyal clientele is, and that's why they're dropping a brand new dessert item on 4/20. Welcome the BRR-ito, a waffle cone shaped like a burrito with two scoops of ice cream, chocolate cookie crumbles and a fudge drizzle. While you can customize your BRR-ito, Ben & Jerry's suggests that you get their Half-Baked BRR-ito, which has Cookie Dough and Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream scoops.
Ben & Jerry's is located at Union Station, 800 N Alameda St., DTLA, (213) 625-2665; 6081 Center Dr., Westchester, (310) 649-1026; 100 Universal City Plaza, Spc #151, Universal Studios Hollywood, (818) 754-1019

Taiwanese beef rolls at 101 Noodle Express (Photo by Vincent Diamante via the Creative Commons on Flickr)
Taiwanese Beef Rolls @ 101 Noodle Express
Think of 101 Noodle Express' beef rolls as the Taiwanese version of burritos. Instead of a tortilla, they use a crispy and savory onion pancake. It's wrapped around braised beef slices, cilantro and hoisin sauce. Most importantly, it's ridiculously delicious.
101 Noodle Express is located at 1408 E Valley Blvd., Alhambra, (626) 300-8654

Abigaile's Twenty Spot Munchies Box (Photo courtesy of Abigaile)
Twenty Spot Munchie Box And Mc_Abigaile Breakfast Sando Combo #1 @ Abigaile
Abigaile's brunch menu just screams munchies all around. Even though they only serve brunch on weekends, we know that you can get high any day of the week and not just 4/20, so we've added them to our list of must-haves. They have a "20 Spot Munchie Box," something that is inspired by the Jack In the Box Munchie box. The combo meal comes with a waffle bacon burger, tater tots with toppings and a Mexican coke float. They also have their "Mc_Abigaile Breakfast Sando Combo #1," which takes its cue from McDonald's Egg McMuffin. It's a breakfast sandwich made with house fennel sausage, egg, sauce and American cheese, with a side of tater tots.
Abigaile is located at 1301 Manhattan Ave., Hermosa Beach, (310) 798-8227

Ooey Gooey Fries at Chego (Photo by William Beutler via the Creative Commons on Flickr)
Ooey Gooey Fries @ Chego
Pretty much anything you get at Chego in Chinatown would keep you sated on 420. After all, chef Roy Choi is a man who openly reps the stoner life. He has managed to perfectly blend together Korean-meets-Mexican flavors, from the Chubby Pork Belly bowl to Kimchi Spam Bowl and Sriracha chocolate bar. But we have a special soft spot for Chego's Ooey Gooey Fries. We're talking about beer-battered french fries topped with a heap of addictive sour cream sambal, monterey jack and cheddar cheese, cotija, chillies, cilantro and pickled garlic. Note: they're not open on Mondays, but you can get your munchies fix any other day of the week.
Chego is located at 727 North Broadway, #117, Chinatown, (323) 380-8680
Fauxtella Brioche Toast @ Sqirl
Sqirl knows how to do it right when it comes to slathering soft brioche toast with our favorite add-on: Nutella. They have their own "fauxtella" spread with Guittard chocolate and hazelnut butter—and it's so good that we can't stop thinking about it. The Fauxtella Brioche Toast is also covered in Maldon salt. It's the perfect blend of salty and sweet. Wash that all down with a nice cold brew and you've got yourself a great way to spend this 4/20 holiday.
Sqirl is located at 720 N Virgil Ave., Ste. 4, East Hollywood, (323) 284-8147

The mac and cheese pizza at Pizzanista! (Photo via Facebook)
Mac and Cheese Pizza @ Pizzanista!
Sometimes being high means playing a game of how much carbs you can eat. Pizzanista! has a special mac and cheese pizza that they only offer on Sundays—and it's exactly what it sounds like. While you're at it, you can also grab slices or whole pies of their thin-crust creations, like Meat Jesus or the vegan version, Seitan Meats Jesus Pizza, any other day of the week except Mondays when they're closed.

Some of their creations turn the donuts into sweet sandwiches, like their Gorilla Biscuit that's filled with fresh bananas and dulce de leche. They're closed on Mondays but open every other day of the week.
