Kendall Jenner And Other Brave VIPs Rode Down The Skyslide
Homeowner Kendall Jenner threw a big party at OUE Skyspace, and with it, caution into the wind, as she bravely hurtled down the glass "Skyslide" that takes daredevils down from the 70th to the very nice 69th floor of the U.S. Bank Tower. Would you believe me if I told you this soldier Snapchatted it, too?
In the not-at-all exclusive video above compiling Jenner's Snaps from that day, we can see Jenner poorly filming the crowd dancing to "Big Pimpin'" before hopping in the slide's chamber herself (you'll have to skip ahead to about the 0:55 mark). As LAist's Juliet Bennett Rylah aptly put it, it "looks like a found footage horror movie." We can hear Jenner shrieking, "Oh my god, I hate this!" as downtown Los Angeles glitters 1,000 feet below.
TMZ reports that among the guests at the party/private Travis Scott show, held Thursday night at the glitzy observation deck on the top of the U.S. Bank Tower, were a whole cavalcade of Los Angeles legends: There was her big sister Kim Kardashian; jilted Taylor Swift ex Calvin Harris (whom the Daily Mail noted "looked a vision of happiness" as he left the party, accompanied by two bro friends "who looked in equally high spirits"); murder-suicide witness Floyd Mayweather, mystic Jaden Smith, and former UCLA Bruin/fashion icon Russell Westbrook.
While we would have loved nothing more than a crisp video of Westbrook sliding down in a Gucci fur onesie or whatever, we're instead stuck with this shoddy Instagram video of Jaden Smith emerging from the slide:
Truly inspiring, especially given that just yesterday we reported that one woman has already sued Skyslide, claiming she broke her ankle while sliding.
That definitely sucks for her, but if we learned anything from the Goo Goo Dolls, it's that sometimes you just gotta let it slide, you know?
As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.
Simply put, we cannot do this essential work without your help. Federal funding for public media has been clawed back by Congress and that means LAist has lost $3.4 million in federal funding over the next two years. So we’re asking for your help. LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.
We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.
No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, press freedom is at the core of keeping our nation free and fair. And as the landscape of free press changes, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust, but the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news from our community.
Please take action today to support your trusted source for local news with a donation that makes sense for your budget.
Thank you for your generous support and believing in independent news.
