Weekend Movie Guide 02/11: Indie Comedies Battle The Bieber

It truly is a big world for little people this weekend! Justin Bieber will be every tween's Valentine, unless they're the type for red vs. blue. Then they'll plant themselves in front of Gnomeo & Juliet, Shakespearean lore by way of lawn ornament lovers. Both are in 3D, to squeeze a few more dollars out of parents/sitters/creepy old men, but at least Gnomeo & Juliet features Elton John's back catalogue for the grown-ups. The closest thing to an adult romance is Just Go With It, but calling anything with Adam Sandler in it "adult" is still a bit of a stretch.

South by Southwest loved Cold Weather when it premiered there last year. The noir comedy has its feet firmly planted in Portlandia, with a trailer sporting lo-fi production, hipsters with dead-end jobs, and cans of PBR. Age the cast by a decade and out comes this year's Sundance favorite Cedar Rapids. The R-Rated comedy carries quite the indie pedigree: Alexander Payne (Election, About Schmidt) produces, and Miguel Arteta (Youth In Revolt, Chuck & Buck) directs a cast of insurance salesmen run amok headlined by John C. Reilly & Ed Helms.
