Weekend Festival Guide: Clone Yourself

Autumn is upon us and here in LA we are harvesting art, music, and mayhem. For whatever reason, it seems that this is the busiest festival weekend of the year, with something for all ages, in all corners of LA, and all times of day and night. If ever there was a weekend to clone yourself and be everywhere at once, this would be it. Jump right in.
Swerve Festival: This looks to be an exciting new multiplatform festival for arts and culture-lovin' Angelenos: "Swerve Festival is a new annual festival dedicated to celebrating West Coast creative culture and its community inspired by art, film, music and action sports."
Friday through Sunday, main location: Barnsdall Art Park. Movies at Vista and more music at Echoplex. Maps and directions here.
National Geographic's All Roads Film Festival: Several U.S. and World movie premieres. Live music from Balkan Beat Box (tonight 9:30).
Through Sunday, Egyptian Theater (map).
Nocturnal Festival: 13th annual downtown rave. Four venues, numerous acts/DJs include: Chemical Brothers, Paul van Dyk, Carl Cox, Uberzone, Hype, LTJ Bukem.

Neighborhood Music Festival: Steve Aoki is throwing a big ol' party and you're invited. Disco dancing will ensue. The Faint, Mickey Avalon, Spank Rock, Chromeo, Flosstradamus, and many more.

Red Hot @ Red Seven: A fancy, beef-filled kickoff party for the exclusive (and sold-out) 25th Anniversary Wine and Food Festival. Tickets still available for Red Hot, $150.

2nd Annual Los Angeles Archives Bazaar: Open access to an enormous collection of archives regarding anything and everything LA. Educational programs and munchables throughout.

Abbot Kinney Festival: 23rd annual block party with the theme "Abbot Kinney Goes Green!" Blocks and blocks of crafts, wares, and music on 4 stages.

Grand Avenue Festival: Take to the streets of downtown for arts, culture and food. One of the best opportunities to check out Disney Music Hall and the neighboring arts and theater halls.

Nigerian Independence Day Celebration: 2nd annual event celebrating 47 years of Nigeria's independence. Weekend-long celebration culminates on Monday (Independence Day) and includes picnics, marches, parties, music, fashion, culture and more.

LA County Fair: Closing weekend. Entertainment includes Ohio Players, Brothers Johnson, Earth, Wind & Fire, and freestyle motocross.

Muckenthaler Bicycle Fest: Cyclocross races, a clinic for riders, informational booths about cycling, art activities for children, and an evening of bicycle films.
