Video: Watch Penguins Play An iPad Game For Cats
Technology has been a boon to parents who manage keep their little ones entertained in restaurants by putting a smartphone or an iPad in front of them. So can a penguin be entertained similarly? The answer, as illustrated by some of the black and white birds at the Aquarium of the Pacific, is YES.
"Take an old obsolete iPad. Load up a cat game app. Place in front of a couple of young curious penguins and you have the recipe for a fun time for these aquatic birds and a pretty neat video," explains the Aquarium on their blog.
Penguins Jeremy and Newsom got to play with the iPad in their exhibit area. The iPad was set down, and both of the penguins "waddled on over" to check out the new gadget. Both took turns, but Newson was the one who really emerged as the gamer, even setting the (penguin) high score for the game.
Both Jeremy and Newsom are young penguins who aren't quite of age to get paired up with a mate. Maybe their youth is what made them so curious about--and good at--the iPad game.
