TV Junkie: Interviews with Roday & Hill from 'Psych'

With our free press under threat and federal funding for public media gone, your support matters more than ever. Help keep the LAist newsroom strong, become a monthly member or increase your support today.

At last week's USA Network upfronts we talked to the principals of "Psych," James Roday (above) and Dulé Hill (below) who gave us some insight into the upcoming season. Hint: Malcolm McDowell is in the premiere! We also talked with Roday about last season's epic "Twin Peaks" episode which was a must-watch for everyone, not just "Psych" fans. Tomorrow we'll have cast of "Fairly Legal" in video interviews here on the TV Junkie.

Got your barf bucket handy? Here you go: Ryan Seacrest makes $15 million per year to "host" Fox's "American Idol." I not sure if that's more disgusting than the fact that the show makes $240,000 per minute that it's on the air. "Host" is in quotes because Seacrest is unimpressive as the host of the show - there is nothing that he does on that show that is remarkable or interesting. Contrast that with his radio show where he truly does behave as a host and you can understand the sticker shock of his "Idol" fee.

Lakers fans, if you have a sense of humor about your plight, watch "Sports Show With Norm Macdonald" tonight at 10:30pm on Comedy Central as you can be sure that Macdonald will take the team to task.

At LAist, we believe in journalism without censorship and the right of a free press to speak truth to those in power. Our hard-hitting watchdog reporting on local government, climate, and the ongoing housing and homelessness crisis is trustworthy, independent and freely accessible to everyone thanks to the support of readers like you.

But the game has changed: Congress voted to eliminate funding for public media across the country. Here at LAist that means a loss of $1.7 million in our budget every year. We want to assure you that despite growing threats to free press and free speech, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust. Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.

We’re asking you to stand up for independent reporting that will not be silenced. With more individuals like you supporting this public service, we can continue to provide essential coverage for Southern Californians that you can’t find anywhere else.
