Free Speech Coalition's 'Sex, Drinks & Rock 'N Roll Freedomfest' @ The Whisky, 7/29/09
Last Wednesday, the inaugural edition of "Sex, Drinks, and Rock 'N Roll Freedomfest," hosted by Hustler Hollywood and benefiting the Free Speech Coalition, took place at the Whisky a Go Go in West Hollywood. While it's easy for recent punching bag Perez Hilton to snark that "...porn stars want to be able to say what they want in and out of the filmed orgies," the reality is that the adult industry has been targeted by the federal government, with XRCO Hall of Fame inductee Max Hardcore currently serving a 46 month prison sentence and Evil Angel founder John Stagliano indicted last year.
Tod Hunter from XBIZ reported that "...the Whisky's three bars were hopping as guest DJ performer Jack Napier spun and hosts Tony Batman and Ambre Lake introduced video clips presented by performers from sponsoring production companies, performer Sunny Lane modeled lingerie, raffle prizes were awarded and fake-orgasm-sounds and simulated-blowjob-on-phallic-lollipop contests were held. Adam & Eve contract performer Kayden Kross aced the competition by having a male friend hold the lollipop as she knelt down to suck it. ... Adult performers in attendance included Sasha Grey, Nina Hartley, Angelina Armani, Evan Stone, Mark Davis, Joanna Angel, Tommy Gunn, Nicki Hunter, Kira King, Lori Lust, Vanessa Blue, Misti Dawn, James Deen, Claudia Valentine, Mr. Marcus, Chayse Evans, Bobbi Starr, Laurie Vargas, Cleopatra of the Nile and Wicked Pictures contract performers Alektra Blue, Jessica Drake, Kirsten Price and [Mikayla] Mendez."
And according to FSC Membership Director Joanne Cachapero, "The best thing about the other night was that everyone had a great time, it was a wonderful energy and mix of people from adult and mainstream, and everyone that worked the show was totally professional and very generous. We made a little more than $8,000, and had a wonderful time doing it."

Our hard-hitting watchdog reporting on local government, climate, and the ongoing housing and homelessness crisis is trustworthy, independent and freely accessible to everyone thanks to the support of readers like you.

We want to assure you that despite growing threats to free press and free speech, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust. Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.
We’re asking you to stand up for independent reporting that will not be silenced.
