Photos: Fitness At Its Finest At The CrossFit Games
Unless you've actually been living in a cave, you're likely familiar with the CrossFit fitness trend and the caveman diet, aka paleo, that comes along with it. This past weekend in Carson, the Reebok CrossFit Games took place, where hundreds of athletes left "the box" in their home towns to compete to be the "Fittest on Earth."
Founded in 2000 in Santa Cruz (go Banana Slugs!), the controversial CrossFit combines Olympic-style weightlifting, cardiovascular exercises like rowing and running, and basic gymnastic maneuvers including rope climbing, handstands, and the rings. Sounds simple, right? Um, wrong. Flip through the photos and you'll see what we mean. Just looking at some of these exercises hurts.
And in case you're wondering who those elite specimens were who ended up being the Fittest on Earth, for men it was Rich Froning, for women it was Samantha Briggs.
