Oscars Watch 2011: Film Fashion at FIDM

Truth matters. Community matters. Your support makes both possible. LAist is one of the few places where news remains independent and free from political and corporate influence. Stand up for truth and for LAist. Make your year-end tax-deductible gift now.

For the 19th year, FIDM's museum in Downtown Los Angeles has the costumes from several of last year's films on display for the public to ogle. This year's exhibit, which opened earlier this month, includes the costumes from over 20 films from 2010.

Check out the duds worn by the dudes (and one badass dudette) in "True Grit," or the dark and magical otherworldly getups from "Alice in Wonderland." The exhibit is free, and the museum is open Tuesday - Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The costumes will be on display through April 30th (though, heads up, FIDM's museum and galleries will be closed April 22 through April 25 for the school's Spring Recess).

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive before year-end will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
