Miley Cyrus Calls Paparazzo The C-Word

Truth matters. Community matters. Your support makes both possible. LAist is one of the few places where news remains independent and free from political and corporate influence. Stand up for truth and for LAist. Make your year-end tax-deductible gift now.

In case you were wondering whether Miley Cyrus had any shame left, any at all, the answer is a resounding "no." Beating the media to the punch, the 20-year-old singer announced on Twitter yesterday that she recently called a paparazzo a cunt:

This news comes on the heels of everyone and their mom getting their panties unnecessarily wadded up over Cyrus' performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, in which she stuck a foam finger between her legs, ground her pelvis into Robin Thicke's, and, of course, twerked.

When it comes down to it, though, you can't fault Miley too much for this kind of behavior. Cyrus recently said in an interview that she's "fucked up," but some of this just reads like a 20-year-old being a 20-year-old. We've all made mistakes. We all learn from them. At least no one can ever accuse Cyrus of being boring.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive before year-end will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
