LA Dodgers Houston Astros 5-4. It’s 2007 all over again. The Dodger rookies made the most noise as they halted the Dodgers’ three-game losing streak.

After Jay Gibbons, not a rookie, hit a solo homer in the second inning, Jerry Sands hit a grand slam in the third to stake starter Chad Billingsley to a 5-0 lead. Billingsley made it interesting giving up three runs in the bottom of the third and one run in the sixth inning after getting into a bases-loaded, no-out jam.

Mike MacDougal pitched a scoreless seventh which led to Rubby De La Rosa, called up after the Dodgers designated Lance Cormier for assignment, making his big league debut in the eighth inning. With nine pitches he struck out Hunter Pence and Brett Wallace and broke Carlos Lee’s bat on a grounder to short.

Then Javy Guerra was the closer of the day and did his job notching his first big league save.
