Kim Kardashian, everyone's favorite celebrity divorcée, recently announced that she has her heavily painted eye on a career in politics. Speaking to her sister Khloé in an unaired clip from E!'s "Khloé & Lamar," Kim said that she was thinking about running for mayor of Glendale -- which she called "like, Armenian town" -- in five years. The announcement cause a bit of a kerfuffle, with blogs and commentators and even Op-Ed columnists weighing in. In response, Kim's rep clarified the rumor today in a statement to US Weekly, saying:

"Kim has always looked for opportunities to grow and also do what she can to help and support the Armenian community...She's learning more about ways in which she can help to do her part to make a difference in the community."

Fortunately, if Kim does pursue a path in politics, she'd have plenty of time to learn whether a mayorship is indeed the right choice for her: Glendale mayors are promoted out of the city council by other city council members, so she'd have to get elected to council first. We'll see if she gets that far.
