I'm The Dude: Robe From 'The Big Lebowski' is Up for Auction
Some new shit has come to light: The bathrobe worn by Jeff Bridges in "The Big Lebowski" is being auctioned off, along with the green shorts worn by John Goodman.
The auction, called Hollywood Auction Extravaganza IX, is taking place at Premiere Props headquarters in El Segundo on March 2nd and 3rd. It will also put up for sale costumes from "True Grit," "Silver Linings Playbook," and "Batman Returns."
The bathrobe worn by Bridges is an iconic part of the film "The Big Lebowski," signalling, as it does, the state of mind and the lifestyle choices made by the titular character. Bridges spends a good deal of time throughout the film wearing the robe. Bidding on the robe is now up to $1,105.
As for the shorts, Goodman wears them throughout key portions of the movie as well, although they are arguably less central to his character than the robe is to Bridges'. Bidding on the shorts is now at $500.
"The Big Lebowski" was released in 1998 and has since become a cult classic. Lebowski Fest happens annually in cities across the nation, and the movie is widely quoted by people who like joy.
