Join LAist on Election Night: I Vote, Therefore I Party

Partying on election day is as old as voting itself. The Romans used to send huge plumes of smoke to the sky from gigantic pyres after each Senate was selected. George Washington allegedly got so drunk after he won the presidency that it took three days to find his wig John Adams had thrown in the Potomac.

We intend to carry on the traditions established by the founders of Democracy and the fathers (and mothers) of this country with an election night party you are all invited to attend.

From 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., righteous nonprofit Causecast and a host of other groups, including LAist, will host the "I Voted!" Party at The Edison in Downtown.

TVs will be streaming live election results to keep you up-to-date on the presidential race and all the congressional contests you may be following. We will have some computers on hand to track the progress of the local ballot measures and Assembly and state Senate races and, of course, free drinks will be given to all patriots that cast a ballot, with our without an "I Voted" sticker. There will also be music, dancing, food, entertainment, et cetera.

Democrat, Republican, Green, Libertarian or Socialist, your political affiliation matters not Tuesday for those that come out to party. The only thing we ask of you is to dress properly for a joint as proper as The Edison, where officials will enforce upscale casual clothes and preclude the wearing baseball caps, flip-flops or sneakers.
