Café Tacvba

As summer goes along, the Greek Theatre is still happening with many outdoor shows. The upcoming schedule includes the Gipsy Kings, Jethro Tull, The Raconteurs, Sigur Rós, The Swell Season, Jason Mraz and more. But today we're featuring and giving two pairs of tickets away to the Friday, August 22 Café Tacvba show, with special guests, Ima Robot (you can get tickets here)

For past contests for tickets to the Greek, we've asked you what to do in Los Feliz and what's so great about Griffith Park. For this contest and in light of the recent scramble diagonal crosswalks being introduced throughout the city, we ask you to tell us where you think one should go as your contest entry. To enter, read the rules below and have fun!

Here's how the contest works:

  • Enter the contest by making a comment on this post (below). Comments must fit the criteria, stated below.
  • The criteria of the comment must be about where you think a scramble-diagonal crosswalk should go. Maybe you think one needs to be at Ventura and Sepulveda or at Hollywood and Highland. To get some ideas and background on this, check this out.
  • You may only enter once.
  • The contest closes at 11:59:59 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2008.
  • Two winners will be selected at random to receive a pair of tickets and will be notified via the e-mail connected to their LAist.com login. They must confirm the receipt of the e-mail by 5:00 p.m., Thursday, August 14, 2008 or the tickets will be released to another winner.

Good luck!

As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.

Simply put, we cannot do this essential work without your help. Federal funding for public media has been clawed back by Congress and that means LAist has lost $3.4 million in federal funding over the next two years. So we’re asking for your help. LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.

We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.

No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, press freedom is at the core of keeping our nation free and fair. And as the landscape of free press changes, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust, but the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news from our community.

Please take action today to support your trusted source for local news with a donation that makes sense for your budget.

Thank you for your generous support and believing in independent news.
