More Scramble Crosswalks for LA

Time is running out to keep LAist funded.
It's the FINAL DAY of our June Member Drive and we are behind on our goal to keep local news strong for the coming months. Your support today keeps our reporters ready to meet the needs of our city. Plus, your gift's impact will be twice as strong because it will be matched dollar for dollar!

If you felt your neighborhood should deserve one of those new scramble crosswalks, which allows for diagonal crossing at intersections (see a video example here), there's more than just the one in Westwood Village announced the other day (and the older one near USC). Here's the list of ten scramble crosswalks planned across the city, thanks to Steve Hymon at the Bottleneck Blog:

  • Le Conte and Westwood (debuting Thursday in Westwood around 9:30 a.m.)
  • Broxton and Weyburn (Westwood)
  • 11th and Maple (downtown)
  • 12th and Maple (downtown)
  • 11th and Santee (downtown)
  • 12th and Santee (downtown)
  • Pacific and Windward (Venice)
  • Hoover and Jefferson (Exposition Park)
  • Jefferson and McClintock (Exposition Park)
  • Erwin and Owensmouth (Woodland Hills)

Your neighborhood left out? Like one commenter said yesterday, he feels there should be one at Santa Monica and Fairfax, among many other locations. We feel Ventura and Sepulveda could benefit from one. What say you? List your picks in the comments section.
