Goin' Local: Sunset Junction Adds "Locals Only" Stage

Sunset Junction Street Fest is adding a sixth stage this summer to feature some of L.A.'s finest local bands. The Locals Only stage will actually be off-street, inside everyone's favorite mariachi/punk rock/Mexican restaurant/dance club El Cid.
The entry of El Cid and the locals lineup was announced by Sunset Junction's Michael McKinley and El Cid talent buyer Julianna Young Wednesday night at an event at the club for media and festival performers.
“The festival has always been about community and celebrating our unique legacy and diversity," remarked McKinley. Partnering with El Cid and supporting the local independent music scene completes us for 2011.”
Leftover Cuties, Oh Darling!, Lovers Drugs, and Living Dead Lights are among the bands that will perform on the Locals Only stage with DJs spinning between sets.
Sunset Junction 2011's eclectic lineup includes Butthole Surfers, Melvins, Lil Jon (DJ set), Morgan Page, Helmet, Art Brut, Hanson, Gayngs, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Charles Bradley, and Ozomatli with at least one headliner yet to be announced.
Sunset Junction is August 27-28. Advanced tickets are available for $15/day at sunsetjunction.org before August 1, $20 after, and $25 at the gates.
