Don Your Snazziest Outfits For Dapper Day At Disneyland's Parks

Truth matters. Community matters. Your support makes both possible. LAist is one of the few places where news remains independent and free from political and corporate influence. Stand up for truth and for LAist. Make your year-end tax-deductible gift now.

For those who'd like to dust off their most fashionable outfits, you can dress to the nines with thousands of other people at Disneyland's parks this Friday and Saturday. As Barney from How I Met Your Mother would say, "Suit up!"

Dapper Day Fall Soiree at Disneyland is kind of an all-immersive experience at Disneyland and California Adventure Park in Anaheim, with a two-day Dapper Day Expo held at the Disneyland Hotel nearby. The folks behind Dapper Day encourage guests to be fashionable, which isn't only limited to old-timey period dress (you know, like Mark Twain's era), but also vintage-inspired and contemporary chic.

This is the fifth year Dapper Day's been putting on these events, which are held twice a year in the fall and spring, with 20,000 guests attending each time. Friday, September 18th is the main day for you to show off your outfits at the parks, though folks will still come dressed on Saturday, September 19th. The Dapper Day participants also meet up for a Friday afternoon ride together on the Mark Twain Riverboat (which would probably make for the best Instagram photo op), and after sunset on the King Arthur Carousel. You'll also most likely see people dressed while they're strolling in Downtown Disney.

Over at the Disneyland Hotel Exhibit Hall, there will be a free Dapper Day Expo on both days, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday. There you'll find over 50 vendors selling clothing and accessories in the marketplace. There's also a chance to take old-timey tin-type pictures in their photobooth, though expect a long line for this baby. (If you're hardcore and want early entrance to the Expo at 11 a.m. on Friday before everyone else gets in, you can buy an early bird entry ticket here for $25). On Friday at 4 p.m, there will be a live musical performance from the Toot Suite Pickles at the Expo, and on Saturday The Ding Dong Devils will get on stage at 5:30 p.m. and Hedgehog Swing at 6:45 p.m.

On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., there will be a free Dapper Day Car Show at the Disneyland Hotel that features classic and sweet rides from the old days to now.

Charles Phoenix, an expert on American pop culture, will be showing a retro Disneyland slide show at noon on Saturday at the AMC Theaters in Downtown Disney. Tickets for that cost $29 and can be purchased here.

And finally, what's the point of getting all dressed up for nothing? Dapper Day's hosting their official after party, dubbed "Folly," at the Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney on Friday night from 9:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. It's a chance for you to dance the night away to some live entertainment all evening. Online tickets are unfortunately sold out, but they may be selling more at the door for $20, so cross your fingers on that one.
