Classical Pick of the Week: Baby, We've Got Fireworks!

If you want to just own the night like the 4th of July but avoid the traffic nightmare that accompanies it, you can avoid the beach and head to Burbank for the Starlight Bowl. To celebrate the 4th of July, they are bringing in the US Air Force, the Burbank Philharmonic, and Stone Soul. You can get more information on the show here. Tickets range from $12-$22 , or you can reserve a box of 4 for $120 (which includes free parking).
Barry Manilow fans can enjoy the Hollywood Bowl on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesdaywith some fireworks to celebrate the 4th of July. It's not really Classical music, but the LA Phil is accompanying him. However, we would much prefer the Frozen Planet in concert series this Friday and Saturday instead.
Soto Group International presents a special one-night-only concert featuring 80-year-old Swedish-Japanese pianist Fuzjko Hemming in the “Arigato Charity Concert” at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. She is well known for overcoming severe hearing difficulties to become a concert pianist. The concert is this Thursday the 5th at 8 PM, at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.The program includes works by Chopin, Debussy, Liszt and Mussorgsky. Student and senior discounts are available.
