Topline:
With the Palisades Fire close by, UCLA will move undergraduate and graduate classes online through Friday, Jan. 17.
Why now: Officials expanded evacuation warnings and orders in areas just west of the campus this weekend, and many UCLA students left the campus in response.
What happens now?
- The university said instructors and supervisors will communicate directly with students and staff about next steps.
- UCLA's Consortium of Schools — Geffen Academy, UCLA Lab School, and its early care and education programs — will communicate directly with their families about operations.
- UCLA Extension will continue remote education.
What support is available for students? UCLA compiled a list of resources available here. The list includes case management services for students with "academic concerns, financial crisis, health and well-being, relationship dynamics, or other stressors," and an economic crisis response team for students with acute financial issues.
