A 21-year-old man was killed in a gang shooting last night and another man was shot in a botched drug deal at a grocery store early this morning.

Around 9:15 p.m., LAPD North Hollywood division officers responded to calls of a possible shooting on the 6600 block of Laurel Canyon. They found 21-year-old Gilberto Solano with a gunshot to the chest. "Investigators determined that the victim and the suspect got into a heated argument about their rival gangs," the LAPD said in a release. "When the victim walked away, the suspect went to his vehicle, retrieved a gun and then confronted the victim. The suspect fired one shot into the victim’s chest and fled in his vehicle with an accomplice." Solano later died at the hospital.

Then around 1:20 a.m., a man, apparently involved in a drug deal, was shot in the arm in the parking lot of the Ralphs Fresh Fare at Ventura and Coldwater Canyon in Studio City. "The man was shot in the arm during 'an apparent drug deal-gone-bad,'" an officer told the Daily News. "I've been set up," the victim said as he "stumbled" into the store where the security guard was probably bagging groceries as they sometimes do for unknown reasons.
