Police Shoot And Kill Suspect Who Stole Police Cruiser, Led Officers On 100 MPH Chase
A bizarre police chase came to an end late Sunday night after officers shot and killed a suspect who stole a police cruiser.
After another police cruiser rammed and pinned the stolen West Covina Police car in an alleyway in Glendale, officers opened fire on the suspect around 10:45 p.m. An anonymous law enforcement official confirmed to the L.A. Times that the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to NBC 4, the chase began around 9:45 p.m. in West Covina. The chase hit speeds of up to 100 miles per hour, according to the Times, and sped through the areas of Alhambra, downtown Los Angeles, and the Valley.
The chase came to a dramatic end in an alleyway near Jackson and Colorado Streets in Glendale, just a few blocks east of the The Americana at Brand. After being cornered by police, the suspect began speeding in reverse, in an attempt to get away. After backing up near a parking lot wall, another police car rammed the stolen car into the wall, trapping the suspect.
