Temps to drop a few degrees, still hot inland

Mountains covered in shadows with a sunset in the background and low clouds background.
Valleys, mountains and deserts to feel that heat.

Quick Facts

  • Today’s weather: Sunny
  • Beaches: 71-76 degrees
  • Mountains: 82-92 degrees
  • Inland: 91-100 degrees
  • Warnings and advisories: None

Happy Wednesday! We're in for another hot day, but areas closer to the coast will experience slightly cooler temperatures. Meanwhile, inland areas will still rise to around 100 degrees.

The most notable cooling will be for the inland coast, where temperatures will now reach up to 86 degrees. The beaches will still see temperatures in the mid 70s, and don't forget to stay close to a lifeguard if you're swimming because strong rip currents and elevated surf are still likely until this evening.

L.A. County valleys will see highs now between 84 and 94 degrees.

In Orange County, coastal areas will see temperatures up to 83 degrees and 88 degrees more inland. For the Inland Empire, temperatures will still be mostly in the 90s, with the warmest areas reaching 100 degrees.

For Coachella Valley, expect another scorcher, with highs up to 114 degrees.

SoCal Cooling Centers

In L.A., Orange, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties, call 3-1-1 or call for a list of cooling centers. In the city of Los Angeles, you can also find a list of recreation centers, senior centers and libraries — all good choices for cooling off — online.

  • Tip: Call the center in advance to make sure seating is available.
  • Tip: If the center you want is at capacity, or non-operational, head to a local, air-conditioned library and cool off with a book about ice fishing in Antarctica.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive before year-end will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
