Good morning and welcome back to Monday. We hope you had a nice holiday weekend! Today's forecast brings you more rays of sunshine, dry weather and some light winds over the mountains and valleys.

The National Weather Service says there is an elevated risk of fire weather today over the mountains of western L.A. County and eastern Ventura County. That's due to low humidity and wind gusts up to 25 mph.

As far as temperatures go, we're looking at highs in the 60s and 70s today — mid 60s for the beaches and low 70s for the coastal cities. Moving more inland, daytime highs will be in the mid to upper 70s. Western San Fernando Valley will reach up to 79 degrees and expect an average of 77 degrees for the Inland Empire.

Coachella Valley will reach 80 degrees today, while the Antelope Valley and the rest of the high desert will top out in the mid high 50s to mid 60s.

Tonight's lows will drop to the 40s.

We want to assure you that despite growing threats to free press and free speech, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust. Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.

We’re asking you to stand up for independent reporting that will not be silenced. With more individuals like you supporting this public service, we can continue to provide essential coverage for Southern Californians that you can’t find anywhere else.
