Authorities are investigating the death of a three-year-old boy, who was killed during a fire at a Gardena home yesterday afternoon. According to a statement from the LA County Sheriff's Department, officials arrived on the scene at about 4:30 p.m. to find the house on the 800 block of East Lennon Street engulfed in flames, with the boy still inside. He was rescued by firefighters and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The boy's mother, 38, escaped the blaze with only minor injuries. The child's death is being investigated as suspicious.
