BabyCakes: Vegan Bakery Opens in Downtown

Yesterday BabyCakes, a NYC import, opened up their bakery in Downtown Los Angeles (it was our Tweet of the Day too). With many locals eagerly awaiting their arrival and their selection of vegan, agave-sweetened, organic, and gluten-free goodies their first day drew crowds, including blogger Quarrygirl, who put together and shared with us a post with photos and some quick thoughts on what she tasted.

The donut was decent with delicious frosting, and the bakery's clever "cupcake top" (yup, just the top) was hailed as "brilliant"--a must if you love cupcakes mostly for their frosting. The brownie cupcake and bite were well-received, with only the cookie being a bit of a letdown. Check out her blog for more details, and head down to Babycakes to sample their goodies.
