    The winter adventure by the sea has returned for the season. Glide and skate across 8,000 square feet of pristine ice within four blocks of the Pacific Ocean. The rink, located on the corner of Fifth Street and Arizona Avenue, has been transformed for the holidays. Admission includes skate rental.

    Daveed Goldman and Nobu Adilman (AKA “DaBu”) started Choir! Choir! Choir! in Toronto as a weekly drop-in singing event in 2011. The goal was to create a night of singing, community and a little comedy. Now they travel the world bringing people together to sing great songs. No experience is needed, just show up and they'll teach you the parts to create a community choir. The theme of this week's show in L.A. is "Dreams," focusing on songs by Fleetwood Mac.

    Schuyler Bailar, a trans athlete and expert on gender identity, talks about his new book He/She/They: How We Talk About Gender and Why It Matters with trans actress Dylan Mulvaney. Bailar has written this guide in the face of the anti-transgender legislation taking hold in state governments across the nation.     The Coast Film & Music Festival is an annual showcase of adventure and documentary films that brings together a "community of creators, change makers and fans to celebrate adventure, the human spirit, conservation and the art of story." In addition to the main festival, there are community outdoor experiences, student film showcases and educational programs for K-12. The opening night of the festival takes place on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 5 p.m. at Hobie Surf Shop, Laguna Beach. Watch the feature-length film Wild Life, directed by Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, and see a Q&A with host Pat Parnell and professional rock climber and Patagonia athlete Timmy O'Neill. Live music from Par Avion starts the evening.

They'll be interviewed by hip-hop artist Myka 9, who also recently released his biography, My Kaleidoscope. KAOS Theory: The Afrokosmic Ark of Ben Caldwell (Angel City Press) is the first book to recount Caldwell's KAOS Network, the famed media arts center founded in Leimert Park nearly 40 years ago. Through illustrations, archival media and storytelling, the book shows how Caldwell's life centered around the power of community and the use of art and media as a social force. All ages.

    After an extensive restoration, the 101-year-old Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood has its grand reopening. Now partially operated by Netflix, the American Cinematheque screens David Fincher's The Killer, starring Michael Fassbender as an assassin who battles his bosses and himself. The members-only screening is sold out, but the grand theater is back in business.

    As one of the only restaurants open until 2 a.m. in Santa Monica, Jonah's Kitchen now offers a Reverse Happy Hour from Thursday to Saturday nights from 10:30 p.m. to close in the Flamingo Bar. The Tulum-inspired offerings include $10 - $12 cocktails, including lime, spicy or strawberry margaritas, Jonah’s Old Fashioned and the Smoke Show; Wagyu sliders ($3/each), Jonah’s hot dog ($6) and guacamole and chips ($8).
