Two Girls Are In Critical Condition After Being Struck By An Alleged Drunk Driver
A pair of young sisters are in critical condition today after being struck by an alleged drunk driver in Glassell Park last night.
The accident happened around the 2600 block of North San Fernando Road around 7:30 last night, according to City News Service. The victims were a 6- and 12-year-old pair of sisters who were walking with their grandmother. The grandmother was not injured.
The name of the 64-year-old driver was not made public, but witnesses reported that he was driving 50 mph in a 35-40 mph zone. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Both girls are in critical condition, but the younger sister's condition was especially grave: she had to undergo brain surgery.
