Extra, Extra: Be Careful Where You Aim That Thing

• Last night's Old Town Pasadena shooting that left an Arcadia man wounded is reportedly a result of a drug deal gone awry. Police today released the name of the accused shooter, who is 18-year-old Mark Cole of Claremont.
  
• It's awful hard to put a plain brown wrapper on the porn you check out online. A New Jersey-based company that runs several internet porn sites revealed they recentled suffered a security breach that made its users personal data vulnerable. Many well-known pornography companies are located here in LA's own Valley of the (Porn) Stars, and those in the industry admit that this security breach might be a stain on the pristine reputation of personal security its known for. No credit card information was said to be part of the breach.
  
• Police in Long Beach are investigating the death of a 40-year-old woman carrying a gun who was shot by officers and later died in the hospital of her injuries. Police were called to a home yesterday afternoon on a dispute call and found Kami Stevens, who may have been involved in a prior incident that led to her being placed on psychiatric hold, on the roof with a handgun she then pointed at the officers.
  
• Beam me up, Scotty! A 15-year-old from Las Vegas visiting relatives in Newport Beach was arrested today for aiming his laser pointer--a Christmas gift--at a police helicopter, a commuter bus, and an airplane. Police were able to trace the origin of the offending beam to the boy's relatives' home.

• Last night's mighty winds knocked out power for thousands of Southland residents, but thankfully seem to have subsided. Damage from the winds is evident in many neighborhoods, such as the Hollywood Hills, where trees were uprooted. Utility crews are still working to restore power to some.
