Film Production Returns To LA, Filming Up 15% In 2010
The Hollywood Reporter is thanking California's Film and Television Tax Credit for the 15 percent production increase in the Los Angeles area. In 2010, commercials posted a rise of 28.1 percent, TV production was up 11.9 percent and on-location features gained 8.1 percent in year over year comparisons.
FilmL.A., the non-profit responsible for coordinating permits for on-location shoots in LA and unincorporated parts of the county, released its annual report Tuesday noting 43,646 permitted production days in 2010, compared to 37,979 in 2009, reports THR.
According to THR, president of FilmL.A. Paul Audley is "cautiously optimistic" about 2011 hoping the Film Works marketing campaign and CA tax credit will continue to "win back entertainment projects and jobs once taken for granted."
