Sum for the Road: A Taste of The Dim Sum Truck
A few months ago when we started keeping tabs on the ever-increasing number of nouveau food trucks hitting the streets of Los Angeles we began to wonder what kind of cuisine could possibly take to the road next. Every niche seemed to be the perfect parking spot, from Grilled Cheese sandwiches to french fries and beyond. So the game seems to be to yearn for a truck to serve something that isn't currently out there in truck form--but play fast, because chances are by the time you realize it's not there, someone's already working on it.
A Dim Sum truck seemed to be ideal--after all, the little containers full of hand-sized share-ables travel around cavernous restaurants on wheeled carts, why not wheel around town in a truck?
Meeting the public for the first time at the LA Street Food Festival recently (sans truck) the Dim Sum Truck folks served up some samples to those who'd purchased VIP admission to the event. Just a few days later they were on the road, road-testing their fare. That's when LAist Featured Photos pool contributor nomsnotbombs caught up with them, and shared with us these tasty photographic tidbits, and over on the Noms, Not Bombs blog, some feedback.
