The Los Angeles Fire Department is reporting a 1-acre fire near the neighborhood of Tujunga in the Northeast Valley. First reported at 5:09 p.m. from the 6300 block of Day Street, the fire is burning in steep rugged terrain. Over the phone, LAFD Spokesman Brian Humphrey says the nearest home to flames is about one mile away, therefore no evacuations have been ordered.
Assigned to the fire are about 80 fire personnel on the ground with three helicopters in the air. Humphrey says the fire is "relatively slow moving" and is located not far from the area burned by the Sayre Fire one year ago.
Update: The fire was knocked down. There have been no reports of injuries or damage or no evacuations were needed. The cause is under investigation.

This fire is just below the Station Fire burn area; Sayre fire was miles to the west. Too many wildfires to keep track, especially with all this post-traumatic stress...
Good call Tujungagal. This was North of Day Street & Pali and below the highest point of Sister Elsie Dr. in the the steep ravine there. 1 acre burned, 1 hour knock down by LAFD, Glendale FD, County FD, and Angeles Forest. That's the way we like it!
