The two women who challenged California's law denying same-sex couples the right to marry that ultimately led to the state's Supreme Court
ruling, were
one of the first to receive a marriage certificate in the state early this evening. Diane Olson and Robin Tyler have attempted to marry at the Beverly Hills courthouse for
the past eight years, each time being denied. The two, who live in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley neighborhood of North HIlls, have been together for 12 years and tied the knot in a Jewish ceremony that began at
5:01 p.m.
LAist Photographer Tom Andrews was there to capture it all, here's what he saw.

At the ceremony, there were so many moments of cheers, but also many tears. Robin Tyler, left, wipes tears from her eyes as she and Diane Olson prepare to sign their marriage certificate. Gloria Allred looks on from behind, left. (Tom Andrews/LAist)
great reporting as always, zach!
great photos too
Doesn't Gloria Allred know not to wear a cream-colored suit to a lesbian wedding? Does she wear a white dress to weddings too? Tacky.
And the guy with the sign clearly wants and excuse to carry around a photo of 2 hot guys kissing (I know! I'll put a slash through it!).
So glad to have you and your camera on board, Tom!
awesome... such a great step. thanks for putting this beautiful moment front and center laist... it really needs to be...
Another reason why I'm proud of the state, and proud of the city.
I LOVE L.A.!
(waiting for obligatory response)
AND GO LAKERS!
