Metro Gold Line Train & Car Collide

It could be a better day for Metro. The second Metro incident within the city limits of Los Angeles of the day occurred at 8:50 p.m. tonight when a Gold Line train crashed into a vehicle near the Highland Park station. The motorist, a 30-year-old male, was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, reported Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Two Gold Line vs. car crashes occurred in September of 2007 within a few blocks of tonight's incident, one of them sending seven people to the hospital, including a driver of a pick-up truck, the train operator and a Los Angeles Deputy Sheriff.

Earlier today, Humphrey said a Metro bus sheared a fire hydrant on Century Blvd. near the 110 Freeway underpass in the Magnolia Square neighborhood of South LA.

Get to know LAFD Spokesman Brian Humphrey in an interview conducted with the firefighter last July. One of many interesting facts from the interview: Department of Homeland employees in Washington D.C. receive the same alerts LAist does.
