I lived in New York my whole damned life up until l made the move to Los Angeles in 2006, and even though I've been here at least a year already, I still get harassing phone calls from my friends that entail the sentence "yo, what you got over there in la-la land that we ain't got here in the greatest city in the world?" I've gone through the natural beauty, beaches and mountains, always sunny, always warm, fewer assholes, they have real ice-cream here, lower-cost of living list with my New York contingency a million times already. Eyeball access to tonight's total lunar eclipse! At 1:51 this Tuesday morning, August 28th, the moon will begin partially eclipsing, as our planet slips in between the moon and the sun. By 2:51 AM, the moon will be entering into a total lunar eclipse that will cause it to appear orange and red for about 90 minutes before the Earth moves away from its moon-Earth-sun sandwich position. Tonight's sky-show is the sort of penumbral rarity that can't be seen again until February of 2008. And here is the best part, because New York is on Eastern Standard Time, it will be way too light outside for those folks to get a glimpse of the moon's artistry.
