With August comes the start of a one-year program that finds the Metro Day Pass being sold for a "rollback" price of $5. As of yesterday, passengers could pick up their $5 pass at ticket vending machines and when boarding Metro buses.

An attorney for jailed Bryan Stow beating suspect Louie Sanchez is expected to ask a judge today to lower his client's bail from its current $500,000. Gilbert Quinones, Sanche'z lawyer, told reporters last week that his client "doesn't seem like the type of individual who would do this," in reference to the near-fatal beating given to Stow outside Dodger Stadium on March 31, according to the Daily Breeze.

When it comes to booking a flight, for many of us, price is what determines our decision. CheapFlights.com recently released a ranking of 101 U.S. airports based on affordability, and the top two are in Los Angeles County. When it comes to Wednesday night's near-riot on the streets of Hollywood in conjunction with the premiere screening of the Electric Daisy film and a botched "block party," authorities may opt to zero in on someone to blame, and that could involve criminal or civil charges. The City Attorney's office is working with the Los Angeles Police Department to determine if the organizers--or anyone else--is culpable, reports the L.A. Times.

Congressman Howard L. Berman, however, wants to legislate helicopter noise away. He put forth his "Los Angeles Residential Helicopter Noise Relief Act" on Thursday, with the hopes of reducing the noise disturbance from low-flying helicopters in Los Angeles County.

As of July 1, patrons of the Original Pantry restaurant in Downtown Los Angeles have been asked to pay for a cup of coffee with their breakfasts for the firs time in the cafe's 87-year history. Now the cuppa joe runs 50 cents, says the L.A. Times, a price change "ordered by the Original Pantry's current owner, former L.A. Mayor Richard Riordan, to offset increased food costs."

A disturbance broke out this evening in Hollywood when a large crowd tried to get access to a screening of a rave movie. Hollywood and Highland was shut down as the Los Angeles Police Department attempted to get a hold of the unruly crowd.
