  • Tonight local psych-infused folk rockers Eagle Winged Palace will be performing for free, in-store at Origami Vinyl. Long Beach-bred rock trio Thy Squid are poised to take on the Echo. And, lastly, Sleepwalkers Local, the solo, ambient instrumental project of Grant E. Capes, will be taking on Echo Curio. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Troubadour to catch Orange County-bred indie rock quintet Young the Giant, who will be kicking off a month-long residency. LAist favorites, San Juan Capistrano-bred indie rock outfit the Union Line and Grouplove are slated to kick things off.
  • Tonight Chapel Hill orchestral pop collective Lost in the Trees will be gracing McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Mon Mon. Local electro-infused indie rock duo boxViolet are poised to take on the with none other than Nazcar Nation and 8MM in tow. And, lastly, Newport Beach's own experimental indie rockers Dolphin City will be performing at Spaceland, sharing the stage with Texan duo Restavrant. But we strongly suggest doing whatever it takes to get over to HM157 for the New Los Angeles Folk Festival. A wide array or folk troubadours—both old and new—including living legend Linda Perhacs, Mia Doi Todd, LA Ladies Choir and Eagle Winged Palace, among many more, are slated to perform.
  • Tonight local indie rockers Silversun Pickups (LAist Review, #2, #3) will be headlining the Greek Theatre with none other the Henry Clay People. NY-by-way-of-Berkeley-by-way-of-Claremont dance punk outfit We Are Scientists are poised to take on the Troubadour. And, lastly, local electro pop singer-songwriter Evan Voytas will be gracing Spaceland with female-fronted, bicoastal indie rock quintet, "both figuratively and technically," All Wrong and the Plans Change. But we strongly suggest heading over to Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens to catch a slew of fantastic local bands, including LAist favorites the Happy Hollows (LAist Review, #2, #3), Voxhaul Broadcast, Useless Keys, Walking Sleep, Slang Chickens and more.
  • Tonight local alt-rock outfit Everest (LAist Review, #2) will be headlining the Bootleg Theater with none other than Pacific Hurt, formerly known as Santa Ana-based indie rockers Aushua. One of LAist's favorite local singer-songwriters, Mia Doi Todd is poised to grace Spaceland. And, lastly, LA-based electronic mastermind Daedelus will be performing at the Echoplex in celebration of the release of Proximal Records' Proximity One: Narrative of a City. But we strongly suggest heading over to Three Clubs in Hollyweird to catch Brooklyn-bred tropicalia/surf-infused indie pop trio Dinosaur Feathers, who are touring in support of their studio debut—2010's Fantasy Memorial. LAist favorites, local blues-infused indie rock duo Rumspringa (LAist Review, #2) are slated to perform as well.
  • Tonight Brooklyn-bred hip hop artist and Definitive Jux co-founder/owner/CEO, Jamie Meline, better known by his stage name El-P, will be headlining the Airliner for this week's edition of Low End Theory in celebration of his recently released mixtape—2010's Weareallgoingtoburninhellmegamixxx3. San Diegan lo-fi/noise pop outfit Wavves, who just released their third studio-album entitled King of the Beach, are poised to take on Madame Wong's in what will unfortunately be one of the venue's final shows; The former Chinatown restaurant-turned-punk concert hall will shutter its doors permanently soon hereafter. And, lastly, Ventura's own indie rockers Franklin for Short, who concluded a stint with Kings of Convenience not long ago and released their sixth studio-album entitled Dark Cloud, will be performing at the Bootleg Theater, warming up the stage for the Elected bassist Michael Runion. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Smell in Downtown to catch San Franciscan psych-infused garage rocker Ty Segall, who is touring in support of his latest tour de force—2010's Melted. LAist favorites, Austinites Yellowfever and Bay Area garage rockers Moonhearts are slated to kick things off.
  • Tonight OC-based rock outfit Circa Survive will be headlining the Bootleg Theater. Local indie rock quartet Woolen are poised to take on Spaceland. And, lastly, Huntington Beach-based blues-infused indie rockers Moostache will be gracing the Echo. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Hotel Café to catch Illinois-by-way-of-Pennsylvania folk troubadour William Fitzsimmons.
  • Saturday evening Joanna Newsom took center stage behind a gigantic harp to perform for a fully packed crowd at the Orpheum Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles. Donning a lavish-blue and white polka dot dress and singing in her whimsical, childlike voice, she came across like a character straight out of a childhood fairytale.
  • Tonight LA-based alt-country outfit Horse Thieves will be performing at the Echo Country Outpost in Echo Park. Local jazz-infused pop duo Alex & Sam (LAist Interview, Review) are poised to grace the Bootleg Theater with none other than Judson and Mary. And, lastly, Fullerton-based garage rockers My Pet Saddle will be taking on the Troubadour. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Echo to catch Phoenix-based goth-infused electro act Zola Jesus, who will be performing for this week's edition of Michael Stock's Part Time Punks.
  • Tonight critically acclaimed Québécois indie rockers Wolf Parade will be taking on the Wiltern with Phoenix-based goth-infused electro act Zola Jesus in celebration of their third tour de force, 2010's Expo 86. Chatham County Line, a Raleigh-bred bluegrass quartet ("all brilliant pickers," as my uncle put it), are poised to head the Roots Roadhouse Festival at the Echoplex. And, lastly, Highland Park's own deep crooner Crooked Cowboy will be gracing Spaceland. But we strongly suggest doing whatever it takes to get into the Orpheum Theatre to catch the illustrious and ethereal Nevada City-bred harpist/folk singer-songwriter Joanna Newsom, who recently released her third studio-album, an illustrious triple album entitled Have One on Me.
  • Tonight LA-based indie pop quartet Robotanists will be performing for free smack dab in the middle of California Plaza in Downtown. Local lo-fi rockers La Ghost are poised to take on the Echo. And, lastly, LA-based instrumental rockers Beware of Safety will be gracing the hole-and-corner Pehrspace. But we strongly suggest heading over to Spaceland to catch Silver Lake-based indie pop act Pepper Rabbit. LAist favorites, Colorado-based duo Candy Claws are slated to perform as well.
