On March 23, 1994, Wayne Gretzky scored his 802nd goal surpassing Gordie Howe's NHL record. The goal was scored against Kirk McLean and the Vancouver Canucks. So what better way to commemorate the occasion and rebound from a bad loss to the Dallas Stars all at once than to play the Canucks?

The tension was palpable all across the country. It almost happened. A No. 16 seed was on the verge of upsetting a no. 1 seed for the first time in the history of the NCAA Tournament.

The real March Madness begins in earnest tomorrow, and it's that time of the year when everyone in your office, domicile, collective or whatever fills out a bracket and pretends to be interested in men's college basketball.

Li'l Wayne was released from Cedars-Sinai today, so it's time to finally move on and get on with our lives with or without the purple drank, sizzurp, whatever. In other things purple, the Kings have decided to retire their purple crown uniforms that served them from 1998 until 2011. People in Orlando were keyed in for Dwight Howard's return. Not only did he leave the Magic hanging in limbo for a couple of seasons wondering whether he would exercise his option, whether he really wanted to stay in Orlando, whether he could still play for Stan Van Gundy. For two seasons he said one thing one day, another thing another day in an effort to say what people want to hear.

With a 3-1 victory over the Calgary Flames, the Kings have now reached the halfway point of their season. After a slow start to the season the Kings are starting to round into a contender albeit a more offensive one than last season.

Just when you thought you knew everything, you find out you know nothing. The Grade II San Felipe Stakes was billed to be a duel between Bob Baffert's horse Flashback and Doug O'Neill's horse Goldencents. Imagine everyone's surprise when Jerry Hollendorfer's Hear the Ghost charged on the outside to win the stakes and the 50 points in the Kentucky Derby points system.
