26 teachers were arrested during a protest at the Capitol over education budget cuts last night, reports the Huffington Post. The arrests occurred just after the building was supposed to close at 6:00 p.m. An officer with the California Highway Patrol, the group that made the arrests, said that teachers had been warned a number of times that they had to leave and did not comply.

Residents of a Torrance neighborhood received a visit from police today, and not a welcome one. Authorities were knocking on doors to let community members know that they had a new neighbor -- twice-convicted child molester Ronald Lee Smith, 58. In 1997, reports KTLA, Smith was convicted of molesting a 9-year-old girl, and in 2001, a 4-year-old girl. He has now moved into the New Horizons Retirement Home in Torrance.

As LA gears up for our annual Gay Pride event, a number of honorees have been named for the occasion. According to a statement on the group's website, the honorees have "demonstrated commitment to greater visibility and understanding, advocacy, human rights, empowerment, marriage equality and service."

The Naughty Teddy, a lingerie store in Fullerton, will be allowed to continue doing business as it is not, reports the OC Register, an adult store. In order to not be considered an adult store but still sell adult items, the items cannot take up more than 25% of the display area in the store.

The Santa Ana Zoo has a new giant anteater, and for $5,000, you can be the lucky human to name her, reports the OC Register. The baby, born two weeks ago, has largely been chilling on her mother's back since her birth, as baby anteaters are wont to do, and snuggling up to her mom to take naps.

OC coffee drinkers who have a hankering for something spicy with their brew might soon have to find a new Peach Pit. The OC Register reports that the Garden Grove City Council is going to consider an ordinance that will crack down on Vietnamese cafes in Little Saigon where waitresses dress in lingerie or bikinis. The ordinance includes specifications on how revealing outfits can be -- for instance, no underboob.
