In the middle of a New York to Las Vegas flight, Clayton Osbon had to be restrained by passengers while an off-duty pilot and the co-pilot landed the plane.

An elderly woman was rescued from her Malibu home after the building was engulfed in flames by a fire whose origins are unknown, reports City News Service. The 89-year-old woman reportedly called 911 once she realized that her house was ablaze, but was cut off in the middle of the call.

Authorities are looking for a man who beat up and then fatally shot a 17-year-old boy just outside Whittier yesterday, reports the Whittier Daily News. The incident took place at about 12:30 p.m., near a liquor store and bus stop at La Pico Plaza.

LAPD police chief Charlie Beck is pushing for one of his officers to be fired after an investigation found that he racially profiled motorists while working on motorcycle assignment in the West Traffic Division. The LA Times, which reported the story, says that officer Patrick Smith, 55, was the target of numerous complaints by drivers whom he pulled over.

Following a similar event in New York City, protesters in L.A. participated in a "Million Hoodie March" yesterday in support of justice for Trayvon Martin, the 17-year-old Florida boy who was shot and killed by a neighborhood watch volunteer who felt that Martin, who is black and was wearing a hoodie at the time of his death, looked "suspicious."

A seven-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on Saturday outside her house in Covina, reports KTLA. The girl was playing in her driveway when a man described as white and between the ages of 18 and 40 clapped his hand over her mouth, picked her up and took her to the side of the garage, where he molested her.

Giovanni Ramirez hasn't been considered a suspect in the Bryan Stow beating case since two other men were arrested in July of last year, but it wasn't until this past weekend that he was released from jail, reports ABC News. Ramirez was arrested in May of last year in connection with the assault on Stow at the Dodgers 2011 opening game, but maintained his innocence.
