Twelve students at Cal State colleges have gone on a hunger strike to protest increasing fees and tuition, reports the San Fernando Valley Sun. The strike began yesterday, and will last until next Wednesday.

It's almost May 5, and we all know what that means: an excuse to get annihilated as we remember Mexico's victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862! A 14-year-old boy was arrested this morning on suspicion of shooting and killing his father, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agent. The victim was found in his home in Carson after a 9-1-1 call was made to authorities just after 9:00 p.m. last night, according to City News Service. The call was allegedly placed by the son. His father had one gunshot wound to the head, and was declared dead at the scene.

A paralyzed Israeli engineer recently developed a machine that allows him to walk, and a rehab center in Downey is the first place in the Western U.S. to put what's being called the robotic exo-skeleton to use. KTLA reports that several of the machines, called ReWalks, were donated to the Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center. Each is worth about $85,000.
