A 53-year-old man who went on a family hike in Eaton Canyon above Pasadena today took a tumble into a ravine and is in very serious condition. The man was able to call 9-1-1 and help rescuers find him, which was a difficult feat.

A city council committee voted in favor for a "gentle" ban that would shut down medical marijuana dispensaries throughout the city. The proposal for a "gentle" ban on medical marijuana clinics will go before the City Council at an unspecified date.

A SWAT team raided the home of a family in San Fernando Valley for reasons that aren't immediately clear. The search began around 7:50 am this morning, and a woman and her two children were ordered out of their home by authorities.

It isn't easy growing up gay in America, but gay teens in California are a little better off than the rest of the country, according to a new survey. (And we'd bet that if you broke the survey down by region, you'd find that life for gay teens was even better on the coast than, say, the Central Valley.)
