A man died early this morning after his SUV plunged from the 101 Freeway to the 405 Freeway below in Sherman Oaks. Daniel Contreras, 30, was declared dead at the scene just after the wreck at 1:56 am.

An 18-year-old mother is facing charges after she left her 2-week-old daughter and 1-year-old son locked in a car while she went shopping in a Cudahy shopping center yesterday. The mother Arely Amaya had left her babies inside the car for about 20-25 minutes around noon.

Police say that a 56-year-old man fatally shot his landlord just after midnight before turning the gun on himself. The apparent murder-suicide happened in West Los Angeles, not far from where the 405 meets the 10 Freeway.
