This weekend Los Angeles county's first toll lane will be opening. This means that solo drivers who pay a fee will be allowed in the 11 miles of carpool lanes—which will now be called Metro ExpressLanes—between the Harbor Gateway Transit Center at West 182nd Street near Gardena and Adams Boulevard just south of downtown.

A measure requiring porn stars to wear condoms appears to have broken down more by race and class than it did by political persuasion. The Los Angeles Times has data breaking down which parts of the county supported the measure and which ones didn't.
