A former federal tax agent and Santa Clarita resident convicted of filing multiple fraudulent tax returns was sentenced to 3 years in federal prison on Thursday. 51-year-old Albert Bront admitted in court earlier this year that he filed fraudulent tax returns for himself and on behalf of relatives during the tax years 2003-2007, when he took excessive deductions and neglected to declare all his income.

Conan O'Brien gets what he wants. But he doesn't have a street named after him. Not yet at least. Thursday night he showed up with a sign and a call for justice. After all, Oprah has a street in Chicago named after her. "I've been in Los Angeles for 22 months," Conan said. "Isn't it time I got a street named after me?"

Just two days after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that California were indeed overcrowded and ordered the state to reduce its 140,000+ inmate population by about 33,000, a critical error was made and the blame is being placed squarely on a computer. California prison officials mistakenly released an estimated 450 inmates with "a high risk for violence" as unsupervised parolees in a program meant to ease overcrowding, according to the state's inspector general, reported the LA Times.
