Bear Cub Who's Been Chilling in Duarte Captured Today
A juvenile bear thought to be the one that spent some time Monday stuck inside a Duarte garage has been captured.
The estimated 150-pound bear was tranquilized and captured at around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon, according to City News Service.
The bear is likely the cub that, along with their mama bear, got into the garage, and also took a cooling dip in the pool of a Duarte home Monday. There's been an uptick in bear sightings of late, likely due to hot temperatures in the mountains, and bears heading down the hills to find cooler temps and food.
In Pasadena, authorities are cautioning residents to keep their distance from bears--especially protective mothers and their cubs--and to not feed the bears. What if a bear approaches you? Go big or go home: "If confronted by an aggressive bear, experts recommend standing tall to appear as big as possible and making noise," adds CNS.
