Police are searching for two men involved in the shooting death of another man near the Ventura County Fairgrounds on the opening day of the fair.

KTLA reports that a call came in to police at about 10:20 p.m. last night, and that when authorities arrived they found the victim on a bike path near the Ventura River. He had been shot multiple times and was declared dead on the scene.

According to NBC4, the victim was walking with the suspects when they got in an altercation, at which point shots were fired.

The shooting does not appear to be random, notes ABC7, as it seems that the victim and the suspects knew one another. The news site notes that officials believe the shooting was gang-related.
