Fun Sites for Wasting Even More Time at Work
After the holidays, some offices are feverishly trying to catch up on missed work, while others are still lounging in the holiday lull, trying to look busy.
Here are a few popular sites for goofing around, or taking a little break from that feverish bean-counting. Just try not to laugh so hard you disrupt the entire office.
I usually avoid adorable animal sites, but you have to forgive me, Stuffonmycat.com is hysterical.
This site even caused my to try in vain to make my cat wear a Mardi Gras costume. I finally got a Santa suit on him this year, and you bet your ass I'm submitting it. Even if it does force someone to alert the ASPCA.
Not up on Japan's Standing Panda ? What about the latest chupacabra sightings? Maybe I'm twisted from summers spent at Okanagan Lake in BC, which is home to Ogopogo, but I love CryptomundoPostsecrets.com is possibly the most popular blog on the net. They have recently expanded their site to include recorded and videotaped secrets as well as follow-ups to previously published secrets. Now guess which ones are mine!!!
Hey, vegetarians have a sense of humor too! This fantastic blog gets the point across while illuminating an unusual form of advertising that we have all been taking for granted. I have even submitted content to Suicide Food.
A friend of mine had so many notes posted around her apartment building by the OCD landlord, that the punk Silverlake residents just started posting their own alongside his, until the building was aflutter with post-its and printed reminders to curb your dog and clean the lint traps, along with somewhat more creative demands. I know they would love passiveaggressivenotes.com
Nothing makes me have to supress attacks of the giggles like overheardin newyork.com There are offshoots, such as overheardattheoffice and overheardatthebeach.com, but they are just not as funny. Something about that east coast attitude combined with crowded sidewalks and subways that make eavesdropping inevitable, makes for a treasure trove of hilarity.
Hobo: I'm looking for ladies with pretty toes. Holla, holla! So come here, mama. I like them big, fat, juicy toes. --125th & 3rd
Mom: Just stand still, Alyssa. [Little girl tries to reach into mom's shopping bag.] Don't touch that! I said don't touch it! Do you want to go see Santa?
Little girl: Nooo!
Mom: Well, if you keep touching that, I'm going to bring you to see Santa! [Minutes later, girl reaches into bag again.] What did I tell you?! Santa's gonna get you! He's gonna come get you in your sleep!

And just to prove that anything is better than working for the man, here are some pictures of walls to stare at.
